Effective September 2, 2021, OROGO has made location data available for historic geophysical programs. The new dataset provides minimum and maximum latitude and longitude values for geophysical programs, generating a box that encompasses the location of the program and allows the public to identify programs with information for a particular area within OROGO’s jurisdiction.
Geophysical programs are regulated by OROGO and are conducted to investigate and measure subsurface features of the earth. Typical programs include seismic surveys; other surveys such as resistivity, gravimetric and magnetic; and geological studies. Programs may involve field work or may analyze previously collected information. Historical program reports in PDF format are available from as far back as the 1940s.
The location information is available for download in two formats – spreadsheet and ESRI shapefile. Contact OROGO’s Information Office at orogo@gov.nt.ca to access the information.
