OROGO regulates oil and gas operations in the Northwest Territories, outside federal areas and the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, for the primary purposes of ensuring:

• Environmental protection
• Conservation of oil and gas resources

OROGO’s responsibilities include:

• Regulating seismic and drilling operations
• Pipeline and well regulation
• Inspection and compliance
• Emergency response and investigation
